2. Choose the colors that you would like to use. Keep in mind that for a multicolor design, you will need to use either more than one screen, or you will need to clean and re-stencil your screen several times, as only one color can be placed at a single time. Utilizing one color for the entire design will simplify the process. However, if you choose to have more than one color, separate the parts of your design by colors. Then, trace multiple versions of your image broken down into the different colors. The last step of the project will involve you overlapping each tracing until the image is whole.

3. Place your image onto the screen. Cut out your wax paper image and then place your paper image underneath the screen. Also, cover the area on your board where you would like the image with a coat of transparent primer. This will allow the ink to better adhere to the board, as well as make the graphic a little more vibrant.

4. Prepare your screen and printing table. Use the duct tape to tape off the frame of the screen so that you do note spill any ink onto the wood. Then, secure your skateboard deck to your table. Make sure the grip tape portion of your board is down, and the trucks are removed. Place wood sealant onto the deck. If you are finished printing and your graphic is dry, apply a coat of wood sealant with your brush. This will make sure that your image will be able to last when exposed to the elements.

Beginning with the portion of screen that is farthest from you, dribble ink in front of your squeegee and pull it toward you in one smooth motion. You should cover the whole design, and apply pressure to make sure that the screen adheres properly to the board. Then repeat the process but from the opposite direction, using only a small amount of ink. Lift the screen and check to see if your image printed onto the board. If you are satisfied, let the image dry. If it is not clearly printed, repeat the printing process. If you want to place more then one color on the board, clean the screen of ink with either water or ink solvent and repeat the printing process with the other color tracings that you made. Make sure that you place the other tracings only once the initial tracings are dry.

6. However if you have some difficulty getting your board to lie flat, you can either secure it with duct tape, or you can place an object that is level with the height of the board underneath it. Once you have completed that, you will place your screen with the cut-out image onto the board.5. Print your image.
