Position this cross strip across the lower end of the previous strip that is sticking to the backing board. The strip you add should lie flush with the edge of the artwork but should not touch it. Each hinge forms an inverted T shape.


8. Flip the artwork, using your new hinges, back over so it is face up on the backing board. Close the hinged mat board over the artwork to make sure the position is correct. The hinges on the artwork should not be seen in the mat window. If it needs to be repositioned, you can do so within the short time before the adhesive paper dries.


9. Reopen the mat board and flip the artwork back over so that the still-wet hinges are flat. Allow them to dry, then flip the artwork back over, close the hinged mat board, and you are finished. The entire artwork and mat board configuration is now ready to be framed.
