S10 Fuel Pump Removal

The fuel vat has to be removed when the fuel pump breaks down.


The Chevrolet S-10 uses a fuel pump that is installed in the fuel vat. The in-tank pump sends fuel washed-up the fuel wrinkle and into the engine. Instructions

3. Place the fuel container under the back of the Motor lorry. The fuel receptacle is located directly under the Bedstead and is secured in by two straps. Deposit the jack under the fuel tank.


4. Unbolt the straps with a socket wrench. Allow the tank to lower on to the jack.


5. Disconnect the fuel lines by pulling the locking tabs back and pulling the lines off the inlet lines of the fuel tank. Unclip the electrical wires the same way. Pull the remaining vacuum lines off the line. They are not locked in and can be pulled off the lines.


6.8. Tap the retaining ring at the top of the fuel tank with a screwdriver and hammer. The screwdriver will act as a punch as it pushes the retaining ring counterclockwise.



Unclamp the hose clamp on the fuel filler line at the back of the tank. Pull it off the fuel tank.7. Lower the fuel tank to the ground, and pull it away from the truck. Pull the ring off by hand when it is loose.


9. Pull the fuel pump assembly out of the fuel tank at an angle so the sending unit will not bend. Place the assembly on a work table.


10. Unscrew the small screws holding the fuel pump to the assembly with a Phillips screwdriver. The fuel pump is the cylindrical shape component on the assembly.
