Prune A Jasmine Bush

Jasmine blooms add nectareous perfume to the garden.

Jasmine is that evergreen vine that conjures up visions of far-off exotic places. The perfume permeating from the flower buds and blooms is intoxicating. The glossy bright of the leaves and the full formation of the flowers makes you requirement to touch the plant to distinguish whether it is factual. Jasmine is indubitable positive and model vigorous. One jasmine vine can sieze an comprehensive nature of the garden in a trouble of months. Pruning jasmine keeps the plant under charge and within its boundaries. Before you lop the stubborn plant back into shape, fix upon when your jasmine blooms. Early bloomers are pruned decent after flowering. Overdue bloomers are pruned in the early spring.

Instructions

1. With all the branches clearly marked, you know what needs removed and what stays. Scrutinize the plant to determine if more pruning is needed. Continue pruning until you are satisfied with the size and shape.

2. Locate branches and stems crisscrossing each other or rubbing together. Use the tape to mark these branches for removal. If a branch looks like it may intersect another branch before you prune again, mark it for trimming. Again, tie the tape just above where you will make the cuts.

3. Check for diseased branches or stems. Tie marking tape at the base of these stems. Any disease not completely removed can come back and destroy the plant.

4. Tie marking tape around the stems or branches growing away from the confines of the garden space for the jasmine. If a stem is too high or creating a wider plant than you want, determine how long you want the stem and mark it with the tape.

5. Prune the jasmine by cutting just below the marker tape. Deal your pruning approach to avoid cutting the bush back further still. Stop branches and stems that are broken or dead with coloured marking tape. Tie the tape slightly above where you want to make the cut. Discard the pruned trimmings or try your hand at stem propagation for more flowering jasmine plants.
