Street Level Apprenticeship Program
The Street Level program is a Chicago's Summer Arts Apprenticeship (SAAP) initiative, an eight-week media arts program for youth ages 14 to 19. The program starts annually in late June. The students meet four days per week for a half day of training each day. Established adult artists work as mentors and guide participants as they create work revolving around political, social and cultural issues. All participants also collaborate, create and present a group exhibition. In addition to in-class learning and mentoring sessions, participants also benefit from the use of the media lab time and field trips.
