5. Practice demi (small) plies, starting in first position and working your way up. Concentrate on your turnout, which must be maintained along with your speed, in both up and down motion.


6. Practice grande (large) plies, starting in first position. With a deeper bend, the heels must come off the floor. Constant speed is required, despite the larger pull of gravity.
