Play The Proverbs Improv Game

Many improv games normally contain one player guessing what other players are doing, where they are and so on. Proverbs is an improv diversion that gives a antithetic twist to the guessing entertainment style of improv games. Instead of guessing a thing, place or person, the guesser has to guess an entire phrase. Everyone knows at least one proverb... You will be surprised at the different ones you get each time you play this game.

Instructions

Play the improv Game Proverbs

1. The host explains the game to the audience.

2. The guesser leaves the staging area so that he or she cannot hear the proverbs being solicited from the audience.

3. The host solicits three different proverbs from the audience, such as "A stitch in time saves nine."

4. The actors either break into teams of three or, if there are just three actors, decide whether or not they want to work together or have their own proverb.

5. The guesser is called back onto the stage.

6. If it is correct, the next actor (or team) enters to present the next proverb. If the guesser is incorrect, the actors let him or her know that they are wrong and continue until the guesser correctly guesses the proverb.8. Steps six (6) and seven (7) are repeated for the final two actors or teams.

The first actor (or team) acts out the first proverb for the guesser, involving him or her into the scene.7. The guesser says his or her guesses aloud if he or she thinks they know the answer.

9. The game ends when all three proverbs have been correctly guessed.
